Oi a gente!!
BRAZIL TIME BABY!! Well… not quite yet but close! This week was online MTC
but on this upcoming Wednesday I get shipped off to the São Paulo Brazil MTC. I
joked that they should put a sticky note on my forehead that says “doesn’t
speak fluently please get her to the CTM” All jokes aside I am SO excited to go
to Brazil and meet the people there.
I hope you all had a wonderful week! My week was SO awesome! Home MTC is
powerful. My district is the best district to ever live and my companions are
the best companions I could have asked for. I am in a trio with Sister Aston
and the one and only Sister (Julia) Roberts. Sister Roberts is actually half
Brazilian and is fluent in Portuguese! When I saw her name on the district
list- of course I hoped by some miracle that Julia Roberts had converted and I
would get to be companions with the famous actress. Nope! But even so, I am so
blessed to have Sister Roberts and Sister Aston as my companions they are so
humble and I respect them deeply. I am actually the only one from my district
who will serve in Florianópolis and everybody else will serve in São Paulo
North or Goiana. Not sure if that was on purpose or an accident… I’m sure it’s
fine :)
I love my classes! Everyday I have 3 hours of language lessons, 3 hours of
preach my gospel and missionary standards lesson, 1 hour work shop discussing
how to be a better missionary, 2 hours of comp study and the remaining time I
use to either study my scriptures or the language. I did notice I get pretty
tired sitting in zoom meetings all day so I resorted to doing 10 pushups and 10
jumping jacks every time they give us a break during class. So far I have done
145 pushups and jumping jacks and counting! Send prayers for my arms- I am not
sure how much more they can take haha.
This week was a constant reminder of my Savior and his love not only me, but
for all his children. Some of the zoom workshops have 140 people of which speak
Portuguese, Spanish, French, or English- and yet we all have a knowledge that
we have a Heavenly Father who loves us very much. The world may be vast and
wide, but even so, he created you. He chose you. He loves you. He cares about
you deeply. So much so that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ to be your Redeemer.
And to know that- I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
Small jots:

I love you all very much and so does God!

Sister Whiting
